When the words highly sensitive were first uttered to me I hit the internet. I searched and googled as if my life depended on it. The number one search result was Elaine Aron and her book The Highly Sensitive Person. I ordered the book, along with The Highly Sensitive Child.

Elaine Aron put down her research and knowledge about the highly sensitive trait on paper to support highly sensitive people. Her books have supported, and will continue to support, parents of highly sensitive children and highly sensitive people across the world.

Books can take you by the hand and lead you to your lightbulb moment – a moment that defines a life before and a life after. The Highly Sensitive Child is one such book. Consider it the bible of parenting and understanding a highly sensitive child.

Plus there is an excellent section to help your child’s teacher understand a highly sensitive child better.

Aron’s The Highly Sensitive Person book is another such book. I learnt so much more about myself and my highly sensitive traits reading this book.

I learnt the answer to why.

And most importantly, I learnt to accept me as I am, highly sensitive traits and all. And that has to be our goal as highly sensitives and parents of highly sensitive children.
