What Do Highly Sensitive Mothers Really Want? Bucket Time!

Highly sensitive mothers feel emotions intensely and deeply, take sleep deprivation even harder than other mothers, and really struggle with the constant noise around them. It makes parenting tough on the best of days. What do highly sensitive mothers really want (and need!) for Mother’s Day (and every day)? Lots of time out to recharge. In other words, bucket emptying time.

Time for Yourself

As a mother, when was the last time you had time for yourself? I am not talking about the snatched few minutes whilst you dive into the nearest bathroom with little fingers desperately reaching under the door, whilst screaming “moooommmmmmmy” at you.

ACTUAL TIME ALONE FOR YOURSELF.

It’s the thing I craved more than anything when I had a young child, a toddler and a baby in the house. Now my kids are older the challenges are different but what remains the same is that I need time alone. I need bucket time. And it’s not a nice to have. It’s for my own sanity, and that of my family.

Gift Yourself Bucket Time

There’s a danger with motherhood that you start losing a grip on your own identity. Motherhood is all encompassing, and takes up emotional and physical energy which leaves you drained. Motherhood is a role that frequently fills your bucket up, if you let it.

So make sure you give yourself the gift of bucket time. Let your family know that the best gift they can give for Mother’s Day is the gift of bucket time!
