Chill Tent

Why a Chill Tent is a Great Bucket Emptying Tool

One of the things that is proving more and more important in our house, as my three boys get older and two of them are now at school full time, is a quiet place in the house where they can chill. Often they do not want to sit alone in their bedrooms but they do want some quiet time and space. They want time and space to empty their buckets, but don’t want to be alone. A chill tent in a communal space was the answer for us.

Why Bucket Time is Important

Highly sensitive children are more easily overwhelmed by external (and internal) stimuli than their peers. This means that downtime is ESSENTIAL for a highly sensitive person, no matter how young or old that person is. I’ll repeat, for those at the back: Downtime (what we call bucket time) is not a luxury.

Our Chill Tent

My husband made the boys a tent. He whipped it up (with help from Google) in no time and the boys loved it instantly.

It is strictly a ‘quiet tent’ for reading, listening to music with headphones on, lying down and just chilling.

They made the space their own. It has twinkling lights and big cushions. It’s a safe haven – it’s a place where each other’s space and quiet is respected. And best of all? It doesn’t just work for children – it’s great for mama’s who need down time too…….

Other Options

If you don’t fancy making one, then there are lots of options for buying a ready made option, depending on the age of your child and their preferences.
