Taking Up Knitting

For some reason I decided to try my hand at knitting (with needles) a few weeks ago. So far, to practice,  I have made scarves for my sons’ cuddly toys. I’ve also found it to be calming – a way to switch off my mind!

It’s because of this that I stumbled upon finger knitting for children.

Finger Knitting as a Calming Tool

Turns out that finger knitting is a fun activity for children, with the added bonus that it stops a racing mind and creates focus and concentration.

And what’s even better is that you don’t need a lot of supplies. All you need is some wool and a pair of scissors – oh and of course your fingers – and you’re away.

Finger Knitting

My eldest made himself a red and black striped scarf, with a little help from me stitching it all together. He’s got so in to it that he does it in school too – and is helping his classmates learn how to do it.

You Tube is full of helpful videos on finger knitting but we particularly liked this one by Good Knit Kisses.
