5 Things to Put in a Highly Sensitive Child’s Stocking
Stocking fillers are a great way to gift useful, practical items that will help a highly sensitive child empty their bucket. Or even better, stop their buckets filling in the first place. Here are five perfect stocking fillers for a highly sensitive child.
Fidget Toys
A fidget cube, a Tangle, a stress ball, snap and click fidgets – you name it, these are great stocking fillers for highly sensitive children who feel more comfortable when their hands are busy with something.
If you have a child that likes to chew, then try a chew necklace.

Growth Mindset Tools
Changing a fixed mindset to a growth one takes time and tools.
These Growth Mindset Conversation Cards from Big Life Journal are the perfect size to pop into a stocking. The cards present children with 52 questions that will get you discussing mindset, kindness and resillience, to name a few things.

You could also print out the Happy Sensitive Kids positive affirmations and put them in your child’s stocking.
Unleash Creativity
Highly sensitives are often creative beings, no matter the age. So choose a stocking filler that unleashes your child’s creativity. A colouring books, a pack of pens or paints, clay to make a sculpture, play dough to model with. Or how about a children’s book about growing a herb garden.
Putty
Sensory putty is a great calming tool for overwhelmed kids. And a great size to add to a stocking. There are so many different types out there, so do your homework and choose quality.
Quiet Time Games
If your child prefers being alone to empty their bucket, then the Smart Games series is a perfect stocking filler. Between them, my sons have a few and they are brilliant bucket emptiers.

Make Your Own Vouchers
A bonus tip is to make your own stocking filler vouchers; the gift of one on one time with mum or dad, a movie night with popcorn, later to bed, a games evening, choose an item to put in the grocery cart – whatever you can dream up. My kids love these every year.
