This is the Perfect Time for Ikigai
It’s a strange time for all of us right now. We are all dealing in our own way with the coronavirus crisis, in different countries with different measures. Our usual routines have been smashed to smithereens. Our stress levels are high. We are worrying about our parents or grandparents, our children, our elderly neighbours, and it is overwhelming. If there ever was a time for ikigai, it’s now.
What is Ikigai?
Ikigai is a japanese idea, which literally means ‘reason for being’. It’s about having direction. Or a purpose.
And that’s an important concept for deep thinking highly sensitive people who are led by purpose. Highly sensitive people search for the meaning in their lives.
Ikigai is about self fulfillment. A feeling of accomplishment. Self worth. Happiness. All positives we could all use at this time.

Ikigai During the Coronavirus Crisis
During these strange days, more than ever, people need to hold on to some kind of purpose. Some reason for getting up today.
So What’s Your Reason for Getting Up Today?
It could be keeping safe. Pure and simple. It could be keeping our loved ones safe.
Your reason for getting up today could be guiding your children through their school work today.
Your reason for being today could be a work goal.
Or a hobby goal.
Or to learn a new skill.
Maybe your goal today is to practice something you have recently learnt.
You could aim to achieve a fitness goal today.
Connect with nature today.

Your reason for getting up today could be as simple as doing one thing that relaxes you. Or makes you smile. Or makes you grateful.
It could be to check in on loved ones – to touch base with a video call. To talk to a neighbour. Do some shopping for someone in your local community.
It may be to just get though today. To get to the end of a difficult day.
Be kind to yourself during these difficult times.
Keep it simple.
But have a reason to get yourself up and at it today!
