Understanding the Highly Sensitive Child: A Nutshell Guide
There is still a lack of literature on the topic of highly sensitive children, and finding something that tells the highly sensitive story through the eyes of a child is even harder still. Until now. Meet “Understanding the Highly Sensitive Child: Seeing an Overwhelming World through Their Eyes (A Nutshell Guide)“.
The World Through the Eyes of a Highly Sensitive Child
James Williamson has written a 43 page nutshell guide that tells what it is like to experience the world from the viewpoint of a highly sensitive child.
What does the world around us look like when you are a highly sensitive child? “Understanding the Highly Sensitive Child: Seeing an Overwhelming World through Their Eyes” answers that question beautifully. Simply and succinctly.
I am highly sensitive. I have highly sensitive children (I am coming more and more to the conclusion that all three sons are highly sensitive in their own ways but time will tell to what extent) and I found myself nodding my head in agreement whilst reading this book, muttering “exactly” as I turned the pages.
There is No One Version of a Highly Sensitive Child
Jamie explains the traits of a highly sensitive child, at the same time as making clear that there is no one version of a highly sensitive child. He describes various situations through the eyes of different children with different sensitivities who feel, see, smell, hear and think more than other children around them. It’s an effective and illuminating way of getting the message across. It’s a book that makes sure the reader puts themselves in a highly sensitive child’s shoes.
Gift This Book to Those Who Don’t Understand Highly Sensitive
If you think your child might be highly sensitive then read this book. If you can’t quite get the concept of a highly sensitive child through to your child’s grandparents, aunts, uncles or teachers, then gift this book to them. They’ll soon understand a lot more about why their grandchild, nephew, niece, pupil is often overwhelmed – and why it sometimes seems that they melt down over the tiniest of things. They’ll grow to understand how it is to experience the world around them so intensely, and maybe, just maybe, they’ll accept and understand your amazing child just as they are.

What a great review Ananda! I bought myself a copy and I’ll be reading it on the plane tomorrow. I can’t wait to enjoy Jamie’s amazing work!
Loved this book, so easy to read and very enlightening. Only discovered the term highly sensitive last year and it explained so much about my then 6yr old. I read this book in an hour and have been able to pass it on to family so they can understand too.
It’s definitely in an easy to read format – lots of information that helps others understand and support your highly sensitive child. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback.
