Resources for Highly Sensitive Children and Their Parents

Over the years, I have discovered many resources that have helped me better understand my highly sensitive children – and helped my own children navigate the challenges that come with being highly sensitive.

I have looked for practical tools to help when children are overwhelmed, resources to help them understand their own emotions, and books and activities that celebrate their highly sensitive traits.

The Happy Sensitive Kids community has also shared experiences of tools, resources and professionals. I’ve brought many of those recommendations together here so you can find useful resources in one place.

Where should you start?

If you’re new to Happy Sensitive Kids, start with the resources that match what you’re dealing with right now:

Parenting a highly sensitive child
Books and resources to help you understand your child and support them as they grow.

Helping an overwhelmed child
Practical tools and ideas for helping your child’s bucket empty when things become too much.

Helping children understand their emotions
Resources designed to help highly sensitive children recognise, understand and manage big feelings.

I’ve personally selected the resources below because I believe they can be useful to highly sensitive children and the adults supporting them.

Looking for a resource to help your highly sensitive child understand big feelings, build confidence and develop a more positive mindset?

Big Life Journal creates journals and activities designed to help children develop important emotional and life skills in an engaging, child-friendly way.
