Books are great bucket emptiers for highly sensitive children. Reading is a powerful way for time in with your children. Books are also a compelling way for a child to get time alone to recharge at the end of a busy day. Reading is also a highly effective tool for winding down before bedtime.
However, if you have sons you may have stumbled upon the common obstacle of a reluctance to read. Boys falling behind in reading is a worrying trend. Many boys go through a phase where reading ‘for fun’ is not a priority but instilling a love for reading from an early age will certainly help make sure it’s a temporary phase.
